The Rock Gets Emotional Hulk Hogan Memorial (Hard not to cry)
The Rock’s Memorial Tribute to Hulk Hogan
Today, the world of professional wrestling lost a true legend.
Rest in peace, Terry Bollea – The Immortal Hulk Hogan.
To millions around the globe, you weren’t just a wrestler…you were a hero. And to me, you were both a childhood idol and, later, a friend and rival who helped shape my own career.
Back in 1984, as a 12‑year‑old kid at Madison Square Garden, I handed you back your “HULKSTER” headband after a match. You promised me you’d get more made and give me one as thanks—and a month later, you kept your word. That simple handshake and gift meant the world to me.
Fast forward 17 years, and there I was, standing across from you in the main event of WrestleMania, facing one of my greatest heroes. That night, when you kicked out of The Rock Bottom, the crowd erupted in a way I’ve never experienced before. It was electric, deafening, magical—and it was all for you.
You may have passed the torch to me that night, but the truth is, you drew the house. You were the reason millions of fans filled arenas and stadiums across the world. You were larger than life, the ultimate superstar, and you helped make wrestling what it is today.
From the bottom of my heart, and on behalf of everyone who has ever laced up a pair of boots or cheered from the stands…
Thank you for the house, brother.
Thank you for everything.
Rest easy, my friend.
You will always be remembered as one of the greatest of all time.
— Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson
