***Royal Mail Text Message SCAM (also applies to the Post Office scam)***

Read the below breakdown on how scammers are targeting the people of the UK and beyond. It's quite a read, so sit back and enjoy. I hope it helps you understand better what to look out for with these scammers.

- SCAMMERS and their WEBSITES!

In this video, I'm sharing tips and advice on 'How to AVOID being Scammed' by phishing websites that are there solely to steal your personal information.

Each day hundreds of these scam sites go live on the internet and it's our job to be more aware, educate others and fight back against these internet skum bags.

- YOU HAVE A 'FAKE' DELIVERY (Avoid at all costs, you have been warned)

This video sees 'a website that looks like' Royal Mail. You get a text message to your mobile phone stating that they tried to deliver a parcel and you weren't in and that all you need to do is visit the link below to reschedule the delivery.

The URL link is a fake of course. They make you think it's a website that we'd all automatically trust (like Royal Mail) and they go to work trying to trick us into getting our delivery.

- WHAT MAKES THIS SCAM WORK?

The first thing that makes the scam work is the fact they use a URL that looks just like the real web address for Royal Mail. You see Royal Mails actual web address is www.royalmail.com but these scammers were clever enough to get a domain name (web address) that looked very much like that.

They used www.royaImail.co.uk but here is the clever bit, the (L) in Royal was actually an (i) in capital form.

(Phonetic Alphabet)
- i for India
- L for Lima

This meant that when we looked at it resembled the web address of Royal Mail as life is run at a frantic pace we could easily just click the link and fall for the scam.

(Video Update September 2021: Post Office Scam Text Message)

The Post Office scam that I received by text message in September 2021 was again another scammer URL website. www.missed-delivery-report.com Thankfully I knew to avoid it but when I clicked on it my internet provider blocked me from gaining access. This means that the provider already knows that this is a phishing website and that it's been added to the list for scammers. Hopefully, it will be taken down pretty quick.

CHRISTMAS/FESTIVE RUSH

What is also clever about this is that they are running this strategy at a time when parcels are at their highest and people will easily forget what is coming and what isn't. Hence falling for the scam.

STAMP OUT SCAMS

The Royal Mail now have a dedicated page to help educate people on scams further. It's well worth visiting https://www.royalmail.com/help/scam-examples to learn more and at the bottom, you have options to report the scams.

The more we report the better for everyone. They can get scam sites removed from the internet fast but it takes us to report it.

Some internet providers will block these sites before you enter. But if not you'll always find a site that looks genuine. The scammer designers are clever, they know we jump right in most of the time and if the site looks like the real thing we will submit our details without thinking. It really is easily done, especially in today's fast-moving world.

THINGS TO LOOK OUT FOR!

- You should never be asked for your Date of Birth!
- Being asked for a Payment to Reschedule isn't normal!
- Being asked for your Bank Sort Code & Account Number, is a no!

UK COURIER COMPANY & FAKE PARCELS/PACKAGES SCAMS (update Sept 2021)

I now know through research and people contacting me that there is fast becoming a rise in Courier company scams. So be on the lookout for texts and emails from scammers pretending to be:

- Hermes fake delivery scam
- DPD fake delivery scam
- Amazon fake parcel scam
- FedEx delivery scam
- eBay - fake package scam

As always be careful if you receive anything that resembles the above. And always Google or Youtube search for scams because there are plenty of websites and videos showing you what I'm doing in this video.

LIKE, SHARE & SUBSCRIBE

The main thing here is to get this video shared as many times as possible. We need to educate our family and friends so that they don't fall for future similar scams.

I love making these videos but they do take quite a bit of time to produce. Subscribing to my channel and watching my videos do help though as I get a small reward from Google and it allows me to spend more time making useful videos.
