How to forward a SCAM TEXT message to 7726

In response to a question about which countries 7726 works, I have no idea. I am in the UK. I did a Google search and found this site in CANADA that gives the same guidance, so I am guessing it is international https://www.telus.com/en/bc/su....pport/article/report

IN RESPONSE TO SEVERAL PEOPLE COMMENTING THAT THEY HAVE FALLEN FOR THIS AND SUPPLIED THEIR CARD DETAILS, I give this advice. BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING ELSE, CONTACT YOUR BANK AND BLOCK YOU CARD, IMMEDIATELY.

The "beauty" of the scam is you are likely to respond, even if you are not expecting a delivery. You might think it could be a friend or relative has sent you a gift. If by coincidence, you are expecting a delivery, that just increases the chances of you getting taken in by the scam. Once they have all your details they can empty your account, build up debts on your credit, and even create fake accounts using your identity. This scam is run under the cover of many different businesses including Royal Mail, and other delivery services. With everyone staying home and buying online there will be plenty of easy pickings for this scam. Reporting suspicious messages
The message might be from a company you don’t normally receive communications from, or someone you do not know. You may just have a hunch. If you are suspicious, you should report it. By doing so you'll be helping to protect many more people from being affected.

Email
If you have received an email which you’re not quite sure about, forward it to the Suspicious Email Reporting Service (SERS) at report@phishing.gov.uk.

Text message
Suspicious text messages should be forwarded to 7726. This free-of-charge short code enables your provider to investigate the origin of the text and take action, if found to be malicious.

If you think you may have been a victim of fraud or cyber crime, you should report it:
• to Action Fraud if you live in England, Wales or Northern Ireland: www.actionfraud.police.uk or call 0300 123 2040
• to Police Scotland if you live in Scotland: call 101

SIMILAR SCAM that builds on the panic of the missed delivery scam.
You get a text message, apparently from your bank, telling you they have stopped a payment because they suspect it was fraudulent. Don't click on any link or ring any phone number on that text (or email). Again this could be a phishing scam to get your card details. Contact your bank using the number on the back of your card.

Its worth adding that 7726 uses the keys "SPAM" on real or virtual keyboards that show letters on the number keys. This should help you remember it!
In the UK it applies to all networks too, other countries I'm not sure about.
